First of all, I need to explain to you that it had to go through customs.
So please do not think that Barbara was late.
Here is a picture of the delightful little pillow Barbara made; the stitching is over one. I cannot begin to think about how much time she put into it. Behind the pillow are picture postcards of her city, Gyula in Hungary. You can hardly see in the pictures but it is a very charming and beautiful city. In front of the pillow is, I think, a pocket for a cell phone. I am going to put some packing foam in the bottom of it and use it to keep one of my little scissors safe. Now here is the best part, Barbara dyed the thread. Many thanks to Barbara for making this a wonderful exchange.
I wasn't certain that I would have time to take the picture and to post it to the blog. I honestly do not know how working mothers do it. Monday mornings are my time to volunteer in our local elementary school. I thought that maybe it might give me some breathing room if I did not go but I knew that was not a good option. We were in the middle of a snow storm; I knew that there was ice on the walkways under the snow but I really had to walk. There are so many parents who drive their kids to school plus the buses plus the fact that there are two schools side by side, the elementary school and the middle school. The road into the schools is always packed in and out bumper-to-bumper with cars so I walk. When I slipped and fell on the ice my first thought was to turn around and go home but I was really about half way there so I continued but slipped without falling a couple more times. First thing when I got into the school, one of the little girls in the class I work with ran up to me with a smile on her face and threw her arms around me with a big hug. Then I had fun working on number skills with a couple of the kids and then I played a reading readiness version of Uno with some of them. Oh yes, it was good to go to school this morning.
Following school I had to come home to prepare two dinners, one for us and one to take to some friends who are going through a difficult time. In addition, I wanted to do a little extra baking for them. Everything is out of the oven now so I can drive my homemade meals on wheels to our friends.
Finally tonight I have book club. I want to stay home but I also want to see my friends. That will also be good.
